Our role is often not directly visible, but it is essential. Whenever a customer taps a card, uses a mobile wallet, or pays online, Nexi operates in the background to ensure that transactions are processed correctly, securely, and in real time.
What Nexi Does
As an acquirer, Nexi processes transactions on behalf of merchants and ensures that funds are transferred from the customer’s bank to the merchant.
In practice, this means that for every payment, Nexi is responsible for:
- Routing the transaction through the relevant payment network
- Requesting authorization from the issuing bank
- Managing settlement and payout of funds
- Providing reporting and operational visibility to merchants
