Care & Maintenance

This page explains how to perform basic care and maintenance tasks for your A920 terminal, such as replacing the printer roll, inserting or replacing the SIM card, and removing or reconnecting the battery.

These tasks are not part of the normal payment flow, but may be required during setup, troubleshooting, or regular device upkeep.

Need printer rolls, spare batteries, SIM cards, or other accessories?

Please contact your Nexi support representative. We will help you find the right items for your terminal and guide you through the next steps.

Handle the Terminal with Care

The A920 must be handled carefully during daily use and maintenance.

Do not try to open the terminal beyond the covers and parts described in this guide. Opening or tampering with the secure housing can damage the device, make it stop working, or cause the terminal to be blocked for security reasons.

If the terminal appears damaged, has been dropped, shows battery issues, or behaves unexpectedly after maintenance, stop using it and contact Nexi support.

Important

If you notice any battery issue, such as swelling, overheating, leakage, an unusual smell, or visible damage, stop using the terminal immediately. Disconnect the battery if it is safe to do so and contact Nexi support.

Replace the Printer Roll

The A920 has an integrated printer for receipts. Replace the printer roll when the paper is empty or when printouts are no longer complete.

  1. Place the terminal upside down on a clean, stable surface with the screen facing down.
  2. Open the printer compartment by firmly pulling the latch at the back of the terminal.

  1. Remove the empty printer roll.
  2. Insert the new printer roll.
  3. Make sure the paper runs towards the printer opening.
  4. Pull a short piece of paper out of the terminal.
  5. Close the printer lid firmly.

After closing the printer lid, a small piece of paper must remain visible outside the terminal. This allows the printer to pull the paper correctly when printing the next receipt.

Important

Do not close the printer lid with the paper fully inside the terminal. If no paper is visible outside the printer opening, the terminal may not be able to print the receipt correctly.

Insert or Replace the SIM Card

The A920 can use a SIM card for mobile connectivity. For information about mobile connectivity configuration, see Mobile Network.

Always use the correct SIM card size for your terminal. SIM cards are available in different form factors:

The A920 requires a standard SIM card. Do not insert a smaller SIM card loosely into the slot or use a SIM card that does not fit correctly.

  1. Turn off the terminal.
  2. Open the battery cover.
  3. Remove the battery if needed to access the SIM card slots.
  4. Insert the standard SIM card into SIM slot 1.
  5. Make sure the SIM card is fully inserted and sits correctly in the slot.
  6. Reinsert the battery if it was removed.
  7. Close the battery cover.
  8. Turn the terminal back on.

Important

Do not force the SIM card into the slot. If the SIM card does not fit, check that you are using the correct SIM card format and that it is aligned correctly.

Remove or Reconnect the Battery

The A920 uses a removable battery. You may need to remove or reconnect it during setup, SIM card insertion, or troubleshooting.

  1. Turn off the terminal.
  2. Open the battery cover.
  3. Carefully remove the battery.
  4. To reconnect the battery, align it correctly and place it back into position.
  5. Make sure the battery is properly seated.
  6. Close the battery cover.
  7. Turn the terminal back on.

Removing and reconnecting the A920 battery

Make sure the battery is properly seated before closing the battery cover. If the battery is not correctly connected, the terminal may not turn on or may lose power unexpectedly.

Cleaning and Handling

Keep the terminal clean and dry during daily use.

Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the outside of the terminal. Do not use aggressive cleaning products, excessive liquid, or sharp objects.

Do not insert foreign objects into the printer, SIM slot, charging port, card reader, or any other opening of the terminal.

If the terminal is exposed to liquid, physical damage, or unusual heat, stop using it and contact Nexi support.
